Slobodne - Cutis Pinoter

Slobodne - Cutis Pinoter - Slovakia, 2017

Region: Hlohovec Region
Grape: Pinot Gris
Skins: 2 Weeks
Tasting: Orange Blossom, Tangerine, Tropical Funk

Slobodne - meaning “freedom” in Slovak, are almost a winemaking dynasty from Slovakia. Established in 1912, the vineyards were lost twice, the first time to WW2 and then again to the rule of the Communist government. The sisters that tend the vines today reclaimed the land in 1997 and replanted the 17 hectare yard and reconstructed the cellar to produce their first vintage in 2010.

Cutis Pinoter (cutis meaning skin in Latin), is a deep coloured skin contact pinot gris, full of florality, red and stone fruits and much more - almost reminiscent of a pinot noir. A little bit of body, tannin and enough flavour to stand up for itself, the Cutis Pinoter is a great wine to match with food.
